I am not pro-apostate, but you do understand that some of these complaints here are the same complaints the Israelites had. Namely being lead by a Privileged leader they deemed incompetent.

Fine, but the scripture states that the people spoke against God and Moses. Now if Moses just came out of thin air, that's one thing, but the Bible states that the people rebelled against God also, which is something entirely different.

jesus encouraged his followers to love their enemies, but god's word also says to "hate what is bad.

If they sincerely mean hate as in to avoid, then I think they have good intentions. After all, even as an "apostate" there are certain people I would rather not hang around, either because they put a damper on my day or because I don't feel like listening to their garbage.

However, hate has the connotation of wanting to do bodily harm. Even though the organization makes it clear that's not what they mean, I think they should've chosen a better word than hate. This is an example of poor word choice, one of the six traits of writing.

The key word here is against. There is a difference between politely asking for something and whining and/or trashing the person from whom you are asking the favor. For example, if you were to ask your parents for some money, would you ask politely, or would you say "Hey old farts! Gimme some dough?" Unless your parents have a good sense of humor and you were jovial using the second phrase, it's not going to produce favorable results.

The people in the excerpt from Numbers were given serpents because they lost faith in God are were rebelling against him.

Now, I'm not some right wing Bible beater who thinks everything in the Bible is 100% true, but I do think you missed the point of the lessons in the passages you cited.

Their elitist attitude that they have a monopoly on the truth and anyone else who claims to be a Christian, no matter how sincere, is full of it.

That, and when I wanted to join the Theocratic School, I had to cut my ties with the Salvation Army because it's a "false religion." I volunteered during a youth summer camp.

Later, I find out that several sisters buy clothes from the Salvation Army. Hmmm, I thought we weren't supposed to be involved with "false religion." I actually voiced this complain to the man who studied with me and even to an elder. They had a few arguements, but had to admit I had a valid point.

Um, didn't most married couples start out by flirting with each other in some form? How are you supposed to hook up with someone else without flirting?

No offense but if you really believe this line of crap you preach, then explain to me WHY ARE YOU ON THIS FORUM?

Shouldn't we welcome people like SOJ? Frankly, I'm glad he at least bothers to look at the arguements on the other side, even though he hasn't seen the light yet. I know most dubs wouldn't even give us a glance because "we are all just a bunch of disgruntled apostates."
